Volleyball Friends Chemistry

OK!!

I have let everyone await too long on this event, let me briefly explain the rules n regulations n how the things are going to be about. I will inform you guys again on this coming Sunday. Objective of the game is to get to know more people other than your own friends n not to stay in your comfort zone for once. =)

How it is conducted?

Minimum required 4 teams which is 24 personnel required for the game.

1 team must consist 4 guys n 2 girls.

The team will be formed by drawing lots. =) (that's the fun n the objective of the game)

It is a league system, where all teams will compete with other teams by playing 2 sets for each match with the oppenent's team. The team with the highest pts gained wins the game.

If both fighting team drawn for the match, they will be given 1 pts each.

If a team wins the match, they will be given 3 pts.

Losing teams will not be given any pts.

Anyone who wants to join the game, must register $5 for registeration fee instead of $1 as we face some budget constraints.

Participation prize will be given to all who attend the game on that day and paid the registeration fee.

The captain of each team is to select, 1 refree and two linesman to help the flow of the game.

The reason is because 2 teams will be playing, the other 2 non-playing teams will help to facilite the match by being refree n linesman.

Refree n the linesman roles can be rotated around in the team.

No reserves is allowed and any injuries of the players will not be any fault of anybody.

If a team lacks of one player, they can find one replacement immediately but the person must not be from the other teams.

The winning team will be awarded with something secretive instead... hehehe.... =)

Rules n Regulations

1. Same as normally 6 person volleyball.

2. No libero allowed.

3. NO VULGARITIES or CHALLENGES to the organising committee if not KICKED OUT!!

When is the deadline and when it will be held?

The deadline of submitting names to me is before Chinese New Year 26 Jan 09. I hope to held this event during Febuary and some admin issues need to be settle. Mostly likely to be held in Tiong Bahru CC and on a Sunday. The timing of the event will depend on the personnel registered.

Everyone out there pls kindly give me your support and guidance in this small event. Thank you. By 7-up

emo

EMO~~~

Suddenly been very emo...because just look back at the archives, all the good times and the bad times...been thr alot, meet alot of companions (nakamas)...

First, i must say a sincere BIG Sorry/ Apologises to my Ex-coach, Mr Mike Koh... I think back my first very post seems abit harsh and hard on him. Actually, i think he has his problems to face in his private life and he is facing pirvate life and volleyball n job...seems abit hard on him to settle alone. I did not really support him but still say he make me a sai kang warrior. Sorry, Coach...forgive me.

Come and think abt it, it actually shapes me abit... i also dono why is me till now, the question still flows in my head...sometimes people like to run away from responsibilities n be freed.

Right now, feel like things has really changed and shaped nicely...haha...don't know is it my luck to meet such a good group of companions or what....because they really guide me, advice me n help me...although i screwed up at times, they still are ok with me n did not really hate me.

Thank you guys, if i have to list the name down, i think it will be alot but some main bulk still must say like n no ranking:

- Calefare
- Alan ( Lao Da)
- Lay Yin
- Jason
- Chun Khai
- Ah gu ( Cow)
- Teck Chong
- Wan Huei
- Jian Rong
- Lay Yoong
- Ah Ho
- Charles
- Sebes
- Kenneth
- Jing Xian
- Lina
- Jun Ting
- Zhi Ping
- Teck Chong friend, who is the designer for the shirt...a female friend, Thank you.

Right now, we have a scoreboard which is cannot make it as i make it. DIY things by me don't really last so we are going to buy new one if possible la.... The shirt we have already got one, and some people really show their support like buying more than 1. Thanks guys, though is not the best design but it gives us a sense of belonging.

Abt the VFC competition, i will be the one organising. It will be a small event but the objective is to make new friends and mix around as i don't really hope everyone stick in their comfort team too long. Haha...i mean once awhile has some exposure is nice.

BUT, i say again, BUT our tiong bahru wif its AURA of good luck, the rain STOP! haha...amazing job by our tiong bahru god who has been overlooking us, giving us a place to play, giving a place to let us chill n tok cock...thank GOD! haha....

eh...i will be going shanghai soon le, alone to visit my sis, those who like to know, can tok or msn me personally, i will answer you... hee

BIG BIG NEWS to share, our CALE fare~~ is going to POP on the 10th Dec, which is two more days and he will be going thr his first 24km route march, though is nothing big, but his FIRST time...so yup... CONGRATS to CALE!!

Meanwhile, christmas is coming, to some is a boring day, to some is a meaningful day, to tiong bahru might be an event day where everyone gathered for dinner or exchange gift? idea, guys?

haha...ok, although i might not be around but my spirit is always with TBCC, haha...i tink of an event for tbcc le, but i dono if can make it, i will call it Volleyball Friends Chemistry ( VFC)...

How it goes? it is simple, like normal volleyball, 6 people...but 4 guys wif 2 girls.
How the grouping is done? simple, all the guys will draw sweets, n the girls will draw sweets, those people who have the same sweet will be one group.
How is it play? It will be a league system & winner team, will take all the bags of sweet home, nice right? With the luck and chemistry, everyone can make new friends n laughter at the same time...

so is it an idea? or is it a crap? vote pls...

SO quiet

Yoh guys!!!

Hows life, ok...its my fault (7-up) that i never update this for quite sometime. I never knew that my supporters are still around browsing for new posting.
Ok~~ time to let you guys know what happen, currently most of the team members are quite busy like friendly teck is having his stressful exams, while our gentle Cale has started his soldier life for 1 yr n 10 months while for me, i have still sometime to go on...( ok, lets face the fact, 6 months more?)

Hmm...abit don't know what to update becoz right now tiong bahru has not much of a news. Christmas coming...i wonder will Santa Claus give tiong bahru wat? Don't rain for every Sunday? i suppose that is super hard...haha...oh well, recently i am quite busy with my life so abit hard for me to post any related abt volleyball stuff...

But recently, i found out that sometime even it is your passion, you need to let yourself cool down for a period before you can continue the journey. ( ok la...abit crappy, i know i know)

Right now, i also thinkin how to make tiong bahru a nice volleyball place where everyone can chill...haha...New year also coming must have some wishlist for tiong bahru volleyball...

So guys looking out there who has been supporting tiong bahru and us, you guys got any comments or suggestion that you like to see in the near future?

PS: i am seriously feeling OLD...fire is dying out. Haha...

i was thinking of have some events, u know like those online games has some events to attract their gamers to come n log in again...(ok, maybe some people don't know)

As most of you know, some of us took part at the N.E.X.T challenge 2008 ('amazing race'). It was a tough and dirty game, but we would still like to share parts of our journey through the race. Feel free to guess with us ...

Checked in, and wait ...

and wait ...

captain briefing (Alan) ... and yup, we waited ...

Alan's back ! ... you got it right, we waited somemore ...

That was the last shot before the flag off ... we had 'happy new year' and 'national day' cheers as well as random cat calls at the strating line, which was hilarious! Oh, our first clue was:

My father was first born in 1939, and he was the first cinema in Singapore to have air-conditioning within it's premises. I'm only two years old ... Though my dad has since left me, I now stand proudly in his place. Many say I do have his resemblance.

Our guess: The Cathay or the cinema at Chinatown

After much deliberation, we decided to head over to The Cathay. Due to the long bus ride to the NEL station, the unconfirmed decision haunted us constantly. To clear or doubts, we borrowed a phone from a very kind gentleman who also plays volleyball for leisure !!

A long sprint to Hougang's NEL, we missed the first train but that left us time to catch our breath. Boarding the train, all we can do was wait ...

Clearing our challenge there, our next clue was:

Centre of financial activites in Singapore, where you will find that the Greenback is not the only thing that is green. The Chevron is where my House is.

Our guess: Istana park or Raffles place

Because the Istana park was closer, we made a mad rush around the Istana park but failed to find the pitstop, so off to the Raffles place we go ...

We reached Raffles place only to encounter a sudoku challenge. Unfortunately, we failed to complete it within the time limit and was faced by a time penalty.

so we waited ...

Our next clue:

Situated on the sounthern tip of Singapore, where music and concerts play we go. Something something underground blah, blah, blah ...

Our guess: The Esplanade

Rushing down to the MRT, we made time for a shot before we board the train which just arrived ...

Completing the task at The Esplanade, we were handed our next clue:

A place of diverse range, ranging from concerts to basketball matches. Facing a bridge that skethes into the night, come here and be cosy.

Our guess: Cosy bay, next to the Singapore Sports Stadium

It was already late and we could not catch anymore buses nor train, so we walked ... and yes, it was loonnngggg ...

Due to the lack of photos it would be very hard to understand the next part of our journey, so I shall summaries.

Our next clue was:

Tom stays at Aspinal's Hotel. He was sound asleep when his wife woke him up at 3am and wanted to buy a gold necklace.

Our guess: Little India

Being slightly worn, we decided to take a cab there. While looking for one, we caught a glimpse of how dirty this race was ... fortunatly, we found a cab ...

We were faced with a riddle, but it was swiftly solved by our team ...

Our next clue: Built for the ruler of Singapore for religious purposes, something something, blah, blah, blah ...

Our guess: The Sultan Mosque

We took a walk there along with a 15 minute break at Macdonalds to re-energise ... yum ! Upon reaching there, we were faced with another mind blowing question:

Using matchsticks, form the below equation and balance it by moving only one matchstick: 14 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 4 (4 = 3 matchsticks)

With some generous hints from the sentinals, we completed the task and our next clue was:

From a gate on top a hill, something, something to do with love ...

Our guess: Fort Canning park

Suspecting an inspection there, we had to clear our dirty laundry before reaching there. Once again, we borrowed a phone and made a disturbing call to our hero: Mr Kyle/cow/moo moo.(It was about 2-3am then) A lift we got as well and quickly, we got lost as the creepy darkness of Fort Canning demoralized our spirits. Going round and round, we finally found our location and was faced with another task:

Using an A4 paper, the whole team must go through it. You can cut, tear, rip the paper, but it must still keep it's edges.

Tired and worn, we failed to deliver and faced the time penalty. Our next clue was:

Go to PA HQ

We quickly found the location but was sadly faced by the fact that it was near impossible to reach. Walking there would be a killer, considering the distance as well as the conditions that we are in. A cab would be too expensive, considering the midnight charge and a police road block up ahead. We had a long debate before deciding to withdraw from the race. We went to Macdonalds to chill out and had a hearty breakfast before a generous lift home by Mr Alan.

That concludes our journey in the race. It was a great eye opener to work, suffer and enjoy together as a team in such conditions despite the overwhelming odds. Although we withdrew, I think we did the right thing and hey, we get to go TBCC to play later !! We no Me ...

The tragic story of John

Hey peeps, it's me again! I am here to tell you guys about a true real life story of John. Please control your emotions after reading this story. Here is goes...

Long before nakama volleyball was borned, in the southern province of singapore near river valley, a prawn named John was living happily in the singapore river. It has a good buddy named bobby which is a crayfish. Wherever they are, they will always be together.

One lovely afternoon, John and Bobby were suntanning near the shore of Singapore river. Suddenly, they found some squid out of nowhere which happens to be the bait for them to eat. Being a greedy crayfish, Bobby decided to gobble the squid. At a swift action, the fisherman tried to net the crayfish. John, being a loyal friend, tried to save Bobby but to no avail. Instead, both of them were caught together. John tried to struggle his way out together but the net was made of nylon. Ran of out strength, both of them lost conscious.

When they are awake, John was shocked to find itself in what seems to be a prawn tank. He was happy to see Bobby alive and swam hurriedly to meet up with him. To his horror, he banged the glass tank and realised that he and Bobby was separated by a glass panel. So he carried on living with his life. He made new friends in the tank and finally met his true love. In the eyes of John, his love one is a gorgeous prawn named Jolene. Jolene had streamline body, long appealing "antenna" and most importantly what caught John's eyes was her sparkling and mesmerizing eyes. They fell in love at first sight despite other prawn's objections. They went dating at a corner of the tank. Soon, they realised that the number of prawns was depleting and they wondered what happened...

One fine night, a group of volleyball enthusiasts met up to fill their empty stomaches after a vigorous and exciting game. They decided to order some dishes to share. Chun Khai, an innocent player wanted to order a $6 tofu as a side dish. However, someone commented on that dish as "cheapo". This comment which made Chun Khai infuriated. On impulse, he ordered a $12 tofu with prawn. That someone was clearly happy when he ordered that dish.

Meanwhile, Jolene was scooped up by the chef. In a quick response, John pushed Jolene away and sacrificed himself in the name of love. Realising that John has sacrificed for her, she vowed that she would not fall in love again.

John felt that it was getting hotter and hotter by the minutes. He tried to struggle but to no avail. Its vision started to get blurred. John cannot feel it's body as it is getting more and more numb. John resigned to his fate and laid still on the hot plate. Flashes of memories of John and Jolene sped through his mind. John died without remorse on the hot plate as he knew that Jolene was safe.

John was cooked together with tofu as requested by someone and served on the table by the waiter. Everyone was happily eating all the dishes until something happened... There was one prawn left on the plates. That prawn is the one that died tragically for Jolene. They unanimously agreed that "that someone" should finished the prawn since he is the one that wanted the $12 tofu with prawn. However, "that someone" refused to eat that prawn. The tragic eyes of John stared painfully at "that someone" but he was still unmoved.

After an hour or so of persuading "that someone" to finish the prawn, they still failed to convince "that someone". We explained that there are not enough food in the world and it's bad to waste food. Meanwhile, John was still staring at "that someone". "That someone" still gave plenty of excuses saying that he was very full and that one prawn will make him puke.
Finally! Seeing that everyone was sleepy as it was 2am in the morning, "that someone" decided to end everyone's misery by finishing up the prawn. His delay resulted in many repercussions. Everyone was tired. As they played volleyball the next day, they can feel the effect of the lack of sleep. They could not serve well, spike well and receive well as they claimed that they are seeing things double.

"That someone" was remorseful and he decided that he will not waste food anymore.
The morale of the story is that we should not waste food and time. We should cherish what we have now instead of regretting it when it is gone.
